February 11, 2024, the second day of the Spring Festival, four senior partner lawyers of Well Bond Law Firm went to the United States for the first day of the judicial exchange program. In addition to the Well Bond lawyers, there are also lawyers from Shanghai, Shandong and Beijing who form the Chinese lawyers' delegation. The lawyers flew to San Antonio, Texas, and stayed in the dormitory of the University of St. Mary's School of Law.
February 12, the second morning, the Chinese lawyers' delegation attended a lecture on the American legal system. The lecture was given by Professor Jeniffer Stevenson, Assistant Dean of the International Program of the University of St. Mary's School of Law.
At noon, the law school prepared a welcome lunch of salmon, asparagus, salad, dessert and other delicious lunch for the Chinese lawyers' delegation, and the students and the law school professors had a friendly exchange.
In the afternoon, Professor Vincent Johnson of the University of St. Mary's School of Law gave a special lecture on the federal and state courts of the United States for the Chinese lawyers' delegation.
It is particularly worth mentioning that Professor Johnson has visited China 32 times, his tort law monographs have been translated into different Chinese versions, and his office is full of Chinese calligraphy and paintings and Chinese elements. Professor Johnson once worked as a researcher at the U.S. Supreme Court, and his office is decorated with many photos of him and the Supreme Court justices. The Chinese lawyers have taken photos with Professor Johnson. Such a friendly American law school professor makes the Chinese lawyers feel more friendly. The Chinese lawyers plan to give an interview to Professor Johnson, which has been unanimously agreed by the students.
The Chinese lawyers also visited the office of Bob Hu, a Chinese professor at the law school, and saw Chinese calligraphy and paintings such as "厚德载物".
In the afternoon, the Chinese lawyers also finished their student cards. With the student cards, they can enjoy discounts in the school restaurant.
